Kabu Island
Kabushima
Kabushima, known nationwide as a breeding ground for sea gulls, was reclaimed by the former Japanese Navy in 1942 and 1942, and the island is now connected by land. Since about 40,000 sea gulls come to the island on an area of about 1.8 hectares early in the spring to nest, sea gulls are popular as birds that tell the coming of spring, and are designated as birds in Hachinohe City. There are about 10 breeding grounds throughout the country, but most are cliffs and remote islands that do not attract people, and Kabushima is the only place in Japan where you can observe nesting up close.
Mt.Hashikami

Mt. Hikagami at an altitude of 740m. In the northwest, you can overlook the neighboring Hachinohe city and the Hakkoda mountain range, and in the northeast you can see the vast Pacific Ocean and in the southwest, the Kitakami Mountains. At the 8th station of the mountain, Daikaidaira, natural azaleas are brilliantly clustered, and climbers are constantly seen during the flowering season from early to mid June. There are courses from the trailhead in the center of the town and from the lower part of the temple with Kannon-do, and the course from the western part of the town (Tashiro area). You can enjoy winter hiking as well as summer.

A bell-shaped rock (collapsed by the 1986 tsunami) was hanging from the ceiling of a small island with a large cave called Matsushima on the Kosode coast. When a couple goes to the world, they meet at Jodogahama (Jodogahama, separate from Jodogahama in Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture), pass through Matsushima, attach a fishing bell, and then enter paradise Jodo.

Tofugaura is a pale purple "red bean sand" drawn in a gentle arc. The scenic scenery has long appeared on Utamakura as Tofu no Ura and Tofu no Suga recommendation, making it a famous scenic spot. Hermanus, a flower of Noda Village, is a plant of the family Rosaceae. In Tofugaura, bright red flowers bloom in early summer every year, and there are also colonies that form round fruits in autumn.

The cliff of Paleogene (from 65 million years ago to about 25 million years ago) protruding from Noda Port, 50m high. It is also reported that Heikes and high priests of the Song drifted away. The beautiful coastal scenery from here is also wonderful.

Kurosaki is a north-facing cliff about 4 km north of Kitayamazaki in Tanohata Village. From the Kurosaki Observation Deck with an altitude difference of more than 100 m from the sea level, you can overlook Nedari Beach from Fudaihama, Noda and Kuji. In the vicinity, there are concentration facilities such as the symbol tower at 40 degrees north latitude, Kurosaki Lighthouse, Ammoura Observation Deck, nature trail, and campground.

Kitayamazaki

It is a scenic spot that has been rated as the special A class, which is the highest rank in the Japan Tourism Corporation's national tourism resource evaluation. The cliffs of 200m in height, the rocky ghost rocks of the Pacific Ocean, various large and small sea cavities, and a dynamic coastline extend for about 8km. Not only in fine weather, but also in rainy weather where the edge of the cliff is hiding.

It is distinguished by its overwhelming height so that your feet can be scooped, and its name is derived from the fact that there is a sea nest on the cliffside. It looks like a giant folding screen as if the five-row arched cliffs of 200m height were lined up in a row. The beauty of the white waves that appear and disappear on the shore of the beach is also impressive. It is also the starting point of the nature trail that goes under the cliff along the coast.

Shimo coast, which continues south of the Omoto coast. The highlights include Matsushima, a fossil island, and Hakogamai, a seafood shelf resembling a washboard. This area was famous for producing 100 million year-old shell fossils such as ammonites, but in 1978 the first fossil of a large herbivorous dinosaur in Japan was discovered and became a hot topic. It takes the place name and is named "Moshi Ryu".

The peninsula that protrudes south of the Omoto Coast is called the bear's nose because its shape resembles the bear's head and nose. One of the sea cavities on the Sanriku coast, the blue sea and old pine trees create a unique beauty. You can overlook this at the Kumanohana Observation Deck, at the tip of which is the Shimo Lighthouse.

It is said that over 300 years ago, Reika Kazunori admired "Just like paradise" and was named "Jodogahama". Jodogahama is made of white rhyolite (quartz trachyte), and the pine-green rocks shine on the dark blue water surface. The beauty of the seawater was outstanding, and it was not only selected as one of the "100 Best Bathing Spots in Japan", but also awarded the "Specialty" rating of only 12 locations nationwide.

Cretaceous rock layers fall into the sea, leaving gaps. The lower part is a sea cave, and when waves come in, seawater blows up at a tremendous rate. Its height can be as high as 30m, but it never blows when the sea is calm. Designated as a national natural monument.

About 140 million to 70 million years ago, this rock is said to have been born in the Cretaceous Period when dinosaurs were still alive. Each of the three huge rocks has a name, and the center is a 50m tall man rock. The female rock on the left and the round rock on the right are called taikoiwa.

Located on the easternmost tip of Honshu at 142 degrees 4 minutes 21 seconds east longitude, this is the first place to see the morning sun in Honshu. It became a model of the movie "How many years of joy and sadness." It takes about one hour on foot from the Anegichi Day Campsite to the northeast along the nature trail of Shigemo Peninsula.

Forty-eight slopes were once called traffic difficulties, and were named after a number of winding hills. Currently, it is the southern entrance of Yamada-cho, and the observatory is a resting place for tourists passing by car. From the observatory, you can see the varied coastline and the round horizon.

Oshima, an island in Yamada Bay. The uninhabited island is about 1 km in circumference and 26,945 square meters. In summer (late July to mid-August), sightseeing boats run across the island, and the white sand and the clear sea are filled with tourists from inside and outside the town as beaches. In the Meiji era, a Dutch ship drifted ashore, and this historical name was widely introduced in the 1960s, and this name became established.

The sandy beach of white sand and blue pine is spread over about 700m. It has been selected as one of 55 national bathing spots, and has a reputation for its environment and water quality. The Namita Beach boasts a beautiful and clear sea, and is a rare beach with a single wave that does not return even if there is a surf. You can enjoy marine sports and camping in the pine forest.

A gourd-shaped island floating in Otsuchi Bay. Horai Island, which is said to be a model of the puppet show "Hyokkori Gourd Island", is a symbol of Otsuchi Town. The green of the pine and the red of the lighthouse shine in the blue sea with a wonderful contrast. This is a haiku sung when a Sendai haikuer strolled in the spring island during the Edo period. People who have visited Otsuchi Bay have long been a favorite for scenic attractions. We pray for the safe voyage of fishing boats and big fishing, and Benzaiten is held here.

It is the beach of "Narusuna" where the sandy beach squeals as you walk. It is located between Namiita Beach and Kirikiri Coast, and is not well known to non-locals. Therefore, you can enjoy nature exploration like a private beach.

Located at the tip of the Hakozaki Peninsula, the north side can be seen from Otsuchi Bay to Yamada Bay, and the south side is from Sanukijima to Kamaishi Bay. On the south side is Senjojiki, a huge granite rock formation. Okozaki is about 6.4 km from Tohoku Nature Trail.
Sangan Island

Sanuki Island is located about 1 km southeast of the Hakozaki Peninsula and is an uninhabited island with an area of 25 ha, an altitude of 128 m, and a surrounding area of about 4 km. It is a collective breeding ground for seabirds such as Streaked Shearwaters and Black-eared Swallows, and is a nationally designated natural monument and a nationally designated wildlife reserve. In the winter, steller's sea eagle and white-tailed eagle come across. It can be seen from pleasure boats arriving and departing from Kamaishi Bay, Okozaki, Ozaki Lighthouse, and Mizumi City Park.

The coastline of about 6km southeast of Suezaki Peninsula in Ofunato City is called Goishi Coast. It is a wonderful coastal scenic spot with cliffs, caves, caves, and water supply. Goishi Beach is located near the southern tip of the Goishi Beach, where you can see the black shale pebbles polished by the waves. Raburadani is a cliff with a height of several tens of meters and a tap like a river, where the land and the thunder rock face each other. You can watch the stormy waves hit the sky from the observation deck.

A popular beach with a white sandy beach. At the edge of the waves, which slowly stretch out in an arc, it is full of many customers every year. Close to Yoshihama Station. During the season, there is a rest house, hot shower, parking lot and facilities. Surfers are acclaimed for their excellent surfing all year round as a surf spot.

Beautiful islands at the tip of Hirota Peninsula, southernmost Iwate Prefecture. Aomatsujima is home to the evergreen shrub of the evergreen shrub, which is native to the northern Pacific Ocean. Tsubakijima is designated as a national monument as a breeding ground for seagulls. May may be full of tens of thousands of sea cats. Aomatsu Island and Tsubaki Island are both specially protected areas of Sanriku Reconstruction National Park.

A cliff cape at the base of the east of Hirota Peninsula. It is a sea cliff made of hard sandstone and shale that is eroded by five layers. On the west side, there is a cave called "Manose cave", and there are two tidal holes on the narrow water side between Tsurushima and Kamejima. The sound of blowing up the water column is loud, and it is a good sign for fishing boats in dense fog.

The marble rocks due to sea erosion are continuous, and the scenery of giant rock, Yawata rock, stone pillars and folded stones with plate joints is especially wonderful. When you look offshore from the beach, the huge pot looks like boiling water in the big pot, and the Yawataiwa off the coast looks like a lid, so it is said to have this name. Oriishi is a 16m high and 3m wide stone pillar. It was named after its tip broken by about 2m at the time of the Sanriku tsunami in 1896. Before breaking, it is said to have been called "Tenpoiwa".

Hanzo is located to the south of the giant cauldron, where you can observe marble nearby. There is a cavity in the basement, and when the waves hit the cavity, the sea breeze blows out with a growl from the air hole "Kochiana" in the ground. This area is abundant in the resources of the sea and lived in abalones and other shellfish. It is also said to have been called in this way, as the kettle was only half completed.

A small sandy beach located on the east side of Kesennuma Oshima, its color is yellow-brown. It is made of more than 90% of quartz grains and is known as "Narusuna", which emits a "squeak" or "cook" sound when stepped on. Naruse is very susceptible to pollution, and will not sound if soil is mixed in. Juhachi Naruhama sand is designated as a city's natural monument. To get to the beach, you will have to walk the mountain path for about 15 minutes.

At the first tsunami experience hall in Japan, you can experience the threat of nature by making full use of sounds and vibrations, along with images projected on the screen.

It is a scenic spot that has been selected as one of the “Shirasuna Aomatsu 100 Selections” nationwide. The appearance of the stormy waves rushing from between the two broken rocks is powerful! Every year in mid-February and late October, you can see the sunrise just between the rocks and take a treasure photo. The surrounding area has a promenade surrounded by pine forests, where you can enjoy the coastal scenery while bathing in the forest.

A treasure view spot boasting of Minamisanriku Town, overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean and coastline from the summit. Every year from mid-May to late May, many mountain azaleas are in full bloom and the peaks are colored in burning vermilion. In addition, Kyozuka on the summit is a valuable relic that conveys today's deep connection with Oshu Fujiwara.
